MAGIC SYSTEM
An introduction
The concept of magic in Ezenora is a core part of an individual's beliefs and lifestyle. People of Ezenora believe that magic can manifest in various instances and forms, such as within their languages and arcane symbols, within certain foods and medicines, and through their art and writing. Magic is especially present in the stories they share that are a part of their religion. In addition to granting spellcasting abilities, magic is an influential force in The Violet Prince. It serves as the source of energy for enchanted items, it allows for people to heal or travel across Ezenora using portals.
The act of casting magic comes very naturally to the dragon blessed, all they have to do is consume some of their inner energy and cast the spell. Some spells though also require certain components such as, somatic or verbal in order to be casted effectively. Dragon blessed children learn how to use their magic from a very young age and with the help of shcolars/wizards they can unlock their full potential by learning new spells. Children also might attend a magic school where they'll be taught about the uses of magic and defending themselves with it safely.
All the dragon blessed races are beings of immense magical power, drawing their magic from the depths of their own souls. Their eyes glow with an inner light when they use magic.
Humans must rely on external artifacts or learned incantations if they want to use magic.
Types of Magic
In D&D 5e, there are 8 different Schools of Magic and many spellcasters can master many different types of magic and use them to their advantage, though that is NOT the case with The Violet Prince. In Ezenora there are 5 types of magic and each is bound to a God/Goddess and a person whether they're a dragon blessed or human can only master ONE type of magic.
Arcane energy feels cold on the skin and 'The Threads'(the way in which magic presents itself to beings) appear to be colorful, transitioning through the different colors of the rainbow. Magic is something pervasive in the world and that some of the characters use and rely on regularly, since it's a key factor that sets the main story in motion.
>Blood Magic is based upon hatred and pain. A spellcaster who wants to use this type of magic has to be actively worshipping Thymos. This dark art, drawing power from the blood of living beings grants its practitioners, known as "Blood Mages", strong abilities. By drawing blood from their own wounds or from blood already spilled, a blood mage can shape it into razor-sharp blades, or thin tentacles that can strike from afar
>Time Magic gifted by Rorgirth, it involves bending and manipulating the very fabric of time itself, allowing its practitioners to cast spells that can slow, hasten, or even reverse the flow of time. Time Magic can be used to reverse wounds by rewinding the injured area to a state before the harm occurred, effectively undoing damage and restoring health.
>Astral Magic gifted by Ruzelth, also called Astral-Manipulation. This magic is cast through meditative rituals and starlit sigils, drawing power from constellations and the very fabric of the cosmos. Astral Magic weilders can weave a variety of spells, from summoning shimmering astral projections and manipulating gravitational forces to harnessing starfire that burns.
>Golden Fire Magic gifted by Zerandeeth, is a highly dangerous form of magic consisting of spells that use the conjured golden flames as weapons during a fight. Fire whip, spinning kicks or sweeping arm movements create rings and arcs to slice larger, more widely spaced, or evasive targets. The major combat weakness behind the golden fire magic is it's confrontational nature. Due to it's aggressiveness and pursuit of continuous assault, it traditionally lacks basic defensive techniques, which can leave an inexperienced spellcaster considerably vulnerable to enemy counterattacks.
>Purple Lightning Magic gifted by Modrelth. Using this type of magic, one will have the ability to conjure and manipulate lightning into all sorts of shapes and forms, such as high-speed jets of lightning, disks of lightning and even a defensive shield of lightning. While the lightning is generally fired as a single strike, it can also be sustained or shot in a continuous bolt and held until the user stops producing it. During this time, the lightning can be swept about to produce widespread damage.
